Families have been gathering at Leinster House to hear the State apology since earlier this morning.
Speaking ahead of the speech, they told Newstalk they hoped for a sincere and meaningful apology after more than 40 years of campaigning for justice.
In preparation for the speech last weekend, Simon Harris met with some of the relatives at his offices in Government Buildings.
It comes after the family’s 43-year fight for justice resulted last week in a verdict of unlawful killing at the inquests into their deaths.
The families gathered in the public gallery this afternoon, as the Toisaech listed off each and every person who died in the tragedy along with an anecdote for each one.
He went on to pay tribute to the thousands of other people who were impacted by the tragedy.
